What Salary is a top performing Technical Recruiter (Agency/Headhunter) expecting?

Hello,

I'm trying to detiremine what salary would attract the top talent in the recruitment industry - and what is considered a high achiever in terms of annual billings.

I'm thinking of a boutique type person, able to manage full life cycle with heavy influence on new business development.

Thanks,

Matt

Pre-Social Recruiting Summit Tweetup 11/15

You don't want to miss the upcoming Social Recruiting Summit Tweetup. Social media is rapidly becoming more than just another tool in a recruiter's toolbox - it's an important part of the future of the talent acquisition profession. The goal of #SocialRecruiting Summit is to have an industry conversation about these tools, talk about tactics and strategies that are already in the field and working, not pie-in-the-sky ideas.

The Tweetup will be held at Bar 675. The venue is usually closed on Sundays, however, it is opening exclusively for this event. Guests will be served light gourmet appetizers and given two complimentary drinks. There will be a on-site photographer, a live Twitter stream and some incredible giveaways. It is free to attend.

Finding AS 400 Talent in NY/NJ

I recruit for Broadridge in Jersey City and Manhattan and have a consistent need for strong AS400/RPG developers.  Just wanted to do a little networking to see if others in the area have ideas of how to target this segment of the market (outside of using agencies)?  Are there online groups, companies with a sizable AS 400 developer population, etc.?  Thanks!

"New York, you have a problem"

New York drill for possible nuclear war --US security authorities have conducted a semi-clandestine nuclear fallout drill in the City of New York in order to be prepared "for the worst." 13 Jun 2009 The NYC Police Department (NYPD) in unison with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) carried out a massive almost-covert anti-nuclear exercise codenamed 'New York, you have a problem' in order to gauge the metropolitan promptness in responding to such attacks. According to an AP report on Friday, hundreds of NYPD officers and FBI agents participated in the drill that involved the detection of a gamma-ray emitting device concealed in the heart of the urban area. The group was also accompanied by an elite corps of federal weapons specialists who, under a US attorney general mandate, found a simulated "nuclear device" and diffused it.

Some of you wonder why I post something like this.  Let me explain.  If you're recruuiting for positions in NYC and you sense hesitancy on the part of your potential candidate to move there, this may be one reason and they may not want to bring it up.  After all, who wants to appear paranoid?

New York's workers just aren't using illicit drugs like they used to.

Use of illegal drugs drops again in NY

The annual survey credits workplace tests for three-year decline; cocaine was the biggest loser.

For the third year in a row, an annual study based on results of workplace tests shows that drug use among working New Yorkers dropped. The decline echoes a national trend.

Of the sample of 170,000 New Yorkers who took work-related drug tests last year, only 2.68% tested positive-down from 2.94% the previous year. The findings are part of an annual report from medical testing firm Quest Diagnostics, based in Madison, N.J.  More here.

By 2011, total financial job losses could surpass 77,000, when layoffs at insurers and other institutions are included. More here.

looking for a partner or two

I am 10 year recruiter out of NYC in the IT space. I have been working for a successful company now for over 5 years and have come to the conclusion that i will never be happy nor find the joy i want out of recruiting by working for someone else the rest of my life. Although i have spent the bulk of my time in tech, i came up in this industry as a true headhunter and still follow that same mentality that i can find anyone for anything. Not a big fan of the job boards, i utilize the internet for its true potential and know how to search at a higher level. I spend the majority of my time on the candidate side and although i am not against client work, i am looking for a potential partner stronger on the business development side. Not looking to do splits with established companies who farm there work out to as many recruiters as possible. Looking for a true partner situation, especially someone who is currently working and will continue to do so until we are ready to give this effort our full-time attention. I am open to any and all market spaces, especially niche markets where the emphasis is truly on building relationships with both clients and candidates. In addition, you do not need to be in NYC for this to work. Lets build something together!
