Question about draws for those of you who recruit sales professionals.

When there is a base plus commission model, how common is it to have a draw (recoverable or nonrecoverable) on commission for a few months?

Time and Date Stamp

Being new to this whole thing I was wondering exactly how you time and date stamp candidates resumes that you submit to clients online in order to preserve your rights in case there is ever an issue as to who made the client aware of the candidate first .  Or does this ever really become an issue ?   Thanks for your help !

Need Recruiters to fill Sales Roles with Chemicals Clients

Hello,

I am looking for multiple recruiters who have experience filling Sales positions within the chemicals vertical.  That is they have placed people that sell polymers and raw materials to clients that use these materials to manufacture their own products.  The roles these recruiters will be working on will be on retainer so this a better opportunity than a typical contingent split. I can only work with recruiters who have experience in this arena.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Dave Jacks

Who's responsibility is it to check references ?

I am preparing to enter the field as a contingent fee  recruiter specializing in healthcare and I have a couple of burning questions. Who's responsibility is it to verify a candidates references ? Would not the employer always want to do this for themselves even if you do it ?  My other question is how should this issue be  handled  ( worded ) in my contract ?

    Thanks to all who respond

Offshore Sales Openings - I need a Recruiter to help me fill jobs

I have a client with 7 hot openings for Sales people. They are an Offshore Solutions firm.  I would like to work with an independent recruiter and do a 50/50 split. Fees are 20% and salaries should be at leas $100k. If you have placed salespeople with their competitors such as TaTa or Cognizant or Infosys you would be a good fit for me and have a good shot at making some deals and I don't have the bandwidth and would really appreciate the help.

Thanks,

Dave

I need help with hiring contractors

I have a great small IT client I work with recruiting for permanent placements.  I was asked if I could take on some of their short-term IT contractor needs because they no longer want to continue using the larger staffing firm they've been using to get candidates for these short term projects.  My issue is that I am not a "staffing" firm so I do not have the means for back office/tax stuff which is what the other firm did for them.  However, I would like to conduct the search for them to keep the relationship alive and well.

Are there any other options for me to be able to take on this job order?  Currently the job assignment for a candidate is only about a week long, but later on this year they may have other assignments that would last about a year.  Would I be able to do the search like a permanent one, but make it known to the candidate that he/she would be considered a 1099 independent contractor?  How does that work?  Who would pay the candidate- my firm or the client?

Any advice is appreciated.

Who leaves Messages and When?

I am an experienced recruiter and salesperson and recently started my own agency. As a result, I have been making many cold calls to clients and candidates.

Question... Do you leave messages for clients and candidates or do you keep calling back until you get them live? If you leave messages, how many will you leave before you stop leaving them?

Independent Headhunter looking for Recruiting/Sourcing work

I am a 10+ year headhunter based in New York looking for additional work.  I have focused most of my career in technology but feel very comfortable jumping into any space and recruiting candidates.   Currently employed by an agency but that will be changing shortly and no plans of going back to work as an employee.
I came up as a recruiter not utilizing job boards and really enjoy the "hunt" so cold calling and sourcing are my strong skills.  I have always been really good at finding what cannot be found and can adapt to different industries and environments.
I am real hungry and ready to hunt!

Please drop me a mail to discuss.

#3 job board in the US???

Of course, we all get a lot of resumes, right? So, today I get the resume of a candidate who is currently working for, according to his resume, the #3 job board in the US.  I've been recruiting about 10 years now...I've never even heard of his job board.

Part of me wonders if he's a serious candidate or if its some unique adverting ploy on his part.  Can any of you guess the job board???

Need help revamping my fee agreement to rebut HR comment

After a six-month merger and then a six-month hiring freeze, I am once again working with a long-time client.  I received an e-mail from their new HR team yesterday and in her e-mail she made the following statement, "You will be compensated for the individuals you place, but not the ones we source."  This client and I worked together for many years with a very simple one-paragraph fee agreement/contract, but now after receiving this comment, I feel I need to protect myself.  I would appreciate if fellow independents could supply me with some verbiage to address this issue, or for that matter an updated all encompassing fee agreement.  Some of the positions I fill for them I do utilize Monster, which they use for posting their positions as well, should I now worry that they're going to come back to me after submitting a candidate and say sorry, but we already have that resume in our database, even though they never contacted or approached him or her.  This is the type of terminology I would like to add to my agreement.

Hourly contract rates

I am wondering what the typical hourly contract rates are these days?  I know there are rates that they pay nothing (i.e. internet, phone etc...) and others that pay.  Can anyone give me some ball park numbers for an Executive Contract Recruiter. I have had several interviews and I dont want to take myself out of the running and would like to be fair!

Thanks for your input.

Independent vs. Firm

What would you consider the differences and similarities of owning and operating an Independent Recruiting firm or working for a larger firm like RH, MRI, Spherion, Manpower, etc.?  What skills are required in either?

I ask because I recently interviewed for a business development position at a firm and was told that an Independent does not have the skills compared to someone in a larger firm.  I have owned my independent firm for over 5 years and never worked in a large firm.
