Has anyone done a total cost comparison, or know of someplace I can get one, of some of the major ATS out there? It seems like in order to find out the general cost of an ATS, I have to go through a full demo first. Cost is a major concern for our organization, so I would like to know that, before spending an hour to do a demo with each one in order to find out. Any suggestions???

I like CATS - and though the price has gone up to $39 a month, it is worth it. There is workflow configuration options and other flexibility to include a job page that is easy to customize should you want to...and they offer a service to do it for you if you aren't a techie for a reasonable rate (I think it is $250)
I have recommended this system to a number of smaller companies and all have been very impressed with the product, how easy it was to get started and the SERVICE provided by the staff.

Good Morning, we also went with iCIMS.. did you expereince any "pushback" from hiring managers in the manufacturing sector of your business? How did you handle the "sell" of a new application process (electronic vs paper) to them.

Hello! You mentioned that cost is of high importance for your ATS system. I have great news for you. I currently use CATS for my ATS system. You may choose a free with limited features (but still good and gets the job done) or you may pay just $28 per month per user with advanced features that include an integrated careers web page to post your requirements and EEOC reporting. I am very happy with this product and recommend it to those on a budget. If you want to try it out, use this code http://www.catsone.com/index.php?cap=ABC907 yes I would get credit for you signing up but that is not the main reason I suggest this ATS...I am a very happy user.

Typically services make up a large part of an ATS deal, and since each customer has different service needs, system costs will vary quite a bit. Some systems are available for self-host, which can change the cost picture. Many systems price various modules as stand-alone or as bundles, and that will change the picture too.
The ultimate determination of how low you can go is the producer cost of the vendor- if they have high costs, no matter what else happens, you will pay somewhat more. Venture capital and other short-term distortions may alter that math, but over a 4-6 year ATS lifecycle, you can assume that the chickens will come home to roost.
Ballpark for on-demand, good quality systems ranges from $60/month per user to $300/user, with services extra between $100- $300/hour. Ballpark for self-hosted systems is between $15K-$250K plus 0%-21% annually for updates and maintenance. Ballpark means just that- some systems will be out of that park.
IMO, matching and sourcing tools are overrated, while personal productivity, webservices, and workflow are underrated.

Aubrey, I think I can help outside of developing a full list. I've just gone through the 'demo extravaganza' over the past 2 weeks in choosing a new ATS for our firm... and I'm about to finally sign a contract. When it comes down to it, no matter what the ATS tells you in the first conversation, you should be able to get it for 100-200/month... and a good one at that. I'll send you a private email w/ my contact info to assist if you'd like some help... Ha, I don't want anyone to go through the process I've gone through over the past few weeks.

My suggestion is to create an RFP for the various vendors you are interested in. They can then submit their proposals to you and the ones that meet your basic criteria can be brought in for a full demo.
If you company has a procurement department or manager I would work with them in developing a RFP. If you can't find one or need an example I may have one you can use.
