Capital Region Recruiters' Network

The Capital Region Recruiters? Network (CRRN) has been organized to bring together recruiters and employment professionals to ensure the growth of business in New York's greater Capital Region. New in 2007, CRRN is offering a members-only on-line ERE.NET group. The message board function of this group will serve as an exchange and central repository for labor needs, recruiting questions, best practices, etc. Do you have questions about the best ATS available on the market today? Ask other members' opinions on this message board. Are you curious about the best niche job board site for your current search? Ask other members for recommendations on this message board. Why not leverage the knowledge and experience of industry experts, in our local market, to get answers to tough questions. In order to access this group, you or your organization will need to be registered as a CRRN member organization. Please visit CRRN.ORG with any questions. Thank you, CRRN Board of Directors

Senior Level Executive

I have a friend who is a senior level executive with a Fortune 27 healthcare organization. She lives in the Capital Region but travels extensively for her position. She wants to find something as soon as possible that allows her to work in the Capital Region so she can be home much more. Although her background is in healthcare she has an MBA and is open to any senior level opportunity, i.e. GE, nanotech, etc.

Here's the question: what search firms in our area would you recommend I contact so they can assist her with her search? Who frequently places people in local senior management positions?

Thanks.

Applicant Tracking Systems

Hello to all.

I presently use ACT for my database and have a large number of candidates and clients contained within. Being a sole operator, ACT has been adequate, but not great.

I recently brought someone on board who will operate from a remote site. So here is my question: are any of you aware of an ATS we could use that is not internet based that would allow us to somehow network together so both of us could access the data? My concern, perhaps unfounded, is with an internet based ATS you are committed to stay with them as long as you want to access the data. Yes, I would be able to transfer it to another ATS but I'd rather be in total control of the data myself at all times.

If I am mistaken about this please let me know. If so, what internet based ATS have you had success with?

Thanks.

Craigslist

Everyone,

Not sure if you're all using this, but I don't think so based on what I'm seeing so I thought I would mention this.

Craigslist (albany.craigslist.org) is an excellent FREE resource to post jobs. The site is incredibly high traffic, and you would be very surprised at the broad range of people using it. I used it with great success at Linium (for everything from office positions to high end IT people), and have used it with Yoh in several markets.

Granted there are a lot of postings for those work at home scams, etc... because it's a free board so there's not as much of a filter... but, ads posted on there DO get responses... I would recommend posting on Craigslist as a standard practice for all your openings. At a minimum, it's free publicity. Worst case scenario, no one responds but now more people have heard of you... best case, you fill the job.

The website is also a great resource if you are looking for an apartment, looking to rent out one of your own properties, looking to sell something or buy something... it's a virtual (and free) marketplace.

Candidates can also post resumes, but there's pretty slim pickings in there.

Here's some Yahoo Groups that you might benefit from being a member of. On most of these lists you can post open jobs or market candidates.

(You will need to get a Yahoo ID to join these groups)

Online Networking

Just figured I would start a string, so that anyone with questions or commentaries on last night's presentation could chime in, and everyone can benefit by viewing the questions & answers.

Also in general, people should feel free to throw out ideas about other sites they have heard of, ask the group's opinions on their experiences with various sites, etc.

EEO Statement

Do any Third Party Recruiters include an EEO statement in their contract with clients? I was asked to add one to my agreement. If you are using one please let me know how you worded it as we are not employers. Thanks.
