LinkedIn vs Facebook... Is this perception or reality? follow this discussion

    started 14 months ago by

For about 18 months, I was receiving regular network requests from members of LinkedIn. That was until about 2 months ago... Now, it seems like I am exclusively receiving network requests from Facebook.

What has changed? Is everyone moving from LinkedIn to Facebook? If so, what is driving this?

Or, is this just my experience?

Are companies looking more to Facebook than LinkedIn for candidates?

I look forward to the everyone's responses to this... It should be interesting.

My firm uses LinkedIn far more than Facebook. The reason being that we are looking for experienced senior sales people who are more likely to be on LinkedIn. If we were doing entry level sales then Facebook would probably be the way to go.

I think linkedin is losing a lot of its shine. I have 3500 connections and of course 3435 of them are to people I dont know. It is getting known as a place to go to get recruited in my opinion.

I keep my facebook account to connect to actual friends and people I have met. I decline 3-6 people for every actual friend I accept.

LinkedIn is still my preferred method for professional connections. Facebook is for personal connections and keeping track of my kid's online connections/activity.

Perhaps you recently became more in tuned to Facebook because the connections morph once you plug-in, that has been my experience. My personal email account, which I keep separate from work, is getting clogged with friend requests and acceptances. I'll be interested to read other opinions.
