Hello Everyone,
My company has appointed me as the go-to person for managing all of our external recruiters. However I have always worked with in-house recruiters and am not familiar with the standard contract terms, fees and other things that I need to negotiate about. Could someone provide me with some insights into dealing with external recruiters? Do any of you have a template that I can use for keeping track of external recruiters and their candidates?
Thanks in advance for your responses.
Rodney

Hi Rodney -
I worked as a corporate recruiter and we used external recruiters quite a bit. Experienced niche recruiters will often charge a premium and stand by their fees, with good reason. A lot of recruiters will negotiate the fees based on difficulty of the order and on the guarantee period. A lot of Third Party Recruiters (TPR's) are getting 25% with a 90 days to 6 months guarantee period. Some are getting as low as 15% with a 30 day guarantee period.
As for keeping track of them all, I would suggest that you sign up with Bounty Jobs. It doesn't cost anything until they fill a position, and then it still doesn't cost any more than what you would have paid a TPR anyway. They have a great system for managing TPR's and you don't have to negotiate with each individual recruiter. When TPR's call to try to get your business, you can refer them to Bounty Jobs. The site has a lot of nifty features, including easy reporting. It is a huge time savings. Recruiters like it because they don't have to get the jobs, so they can focus on recruiting candidates.
All the best, Catherine
