DO you notice increase in M&A activities in MRO- AVIATION recently ?

Aviation and MRO is a very fragmented industry and typically goes through many M&A deals at the end of economic cycle. Have you noticed the surge yet?

Looking for a new contract assignment.

I just finished up my project with Navistar last week and find myself looking for another posiiton. It's tough out there right now, but I have seen a lot of work in concentrated ares. With that said does anyone have any leads they can share? Location is not an issue as you have to go where the work is and I'm open to working virtual. Please let me know and thank you for the leads.

Robotics evolution

This is a shout out to the team to ask if anybody is seeing any increased interest in ROBOTICS ENGINEERS in the Defense and Aerospace industry.

If the answer is yes, then I would like the person to share with us some insights on the growth possibilities that seem evident.

Thanks. Probal

A friend of mine is about to get out of the Airforce, and is looking to move to the DC area to find work.

He has top secret clearance, and worked in the Airforce as an Intelligence Analyst.

Can anyone help me to find out who I can put him in touch with to find a job?

Thanks,

Reaching Engineers on campus

Hi All,

You all should be aware of the on-campus Engineering issue of Job Postings Magazine. Reaching over 300,000 students at over 550 Colleges & Universities, these students will be reading up on careers for the 21st century. Opportunities that are opening up across the U.S. in dozens of industries. And leading the way in the service sector, which is hiring engineers by the thousand. We look at the changing role for engineers in 2008.

The issue explains to students what employers want, as great technical skilss aren't enough. EMployers are looking for first-class social skills too. And what's more, graduates need to develop a hybrid specialization to really succeed. We reveal how a student can meet the engineering demands of the 21st Century.

Plus a snap shot of engineering opportunities in these diverse fields: Airlines, Infrastructure, Power Generation & Utilities, etc.

For info on how you can get involved in the issue contact myself, Terence Grayston at 1-877-900-5627 x246

Airline recruiting

Hi, I'm writing an article for ERE's print publication (called the Journal of Corporate Recruiting Leadership) about hiring for the airline industry, such as pilots. I was wondering if anyone places pilots/others in jobs in airlines and would be interested in chatting? Todd

Boeing Jobs

I'm not sure that this is breaking news any more, but I thought that I would post anyway.

Boeing has rolled out its new 787 Dreamliner. A good portion of the aircraft is going to be built here in San Antonio. They announced on Monday that they are going to need to hire about 400 new employees locally to meet their production schedule. Many of these employees it looks like will be contractors.

Sorry that I don?t have any specific contact information for you, but if your company places skilled manufacturing and assembly personnel, specifically in the aircraft industry, you might want to look into it.

Getting Started

Good Monday morning all. I was hoping that I could get a little advice. I am hoping to land a new position at an aircraft manufacturing company. While I have a number of years of technical recruiting experience, this would be my first in the aeronautical/aerospace field. I already use Linkedin and the major sites, but are there any productive specialty job boards that cater to this industry? As with most engineering positions, this position is heavy with acronyms, are there any publications or web sites that would help me unscramble some of the abbreviations?

Thanks for the help.

Trade Compliance Manager

Hello all,

I have been looking for a Trade Compliance Manager (in So. CAL) for two weeks and have found nobody compelling enough to submit to my client.

They are looking for 10 years exp. with ITAR, EAR, and specifically they must have worked with TAA's and DSP-5's. A J.D. is preferred but not mandatory. It is an Aerospace company and they are offering +$90k with full benefits.

So far I have posted it to icpainc.org and paei.org as well as to my website - and searched the monster database. I have found a few well qualified candidates but none that are available.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas as to where I may be able to look ? or can anyone suggest a firm who has a candidate available on a split?

Thanks in advance,

Chuck Jonkosky Aerospace Solutions ckj@aero-us.com

When to hire a Program Manager

Hello, My company is looking at bidding several IDIQ contracts. My question is, how do your companies determine the feasibility of hiring a program manager for a contract where there is no current work - they will have to win task orders as they come out? Do you have some sort of sales goals a PM must meet in the first year? Do you analyze the work that will be coming out of the contract and put that against the expense of an overhead PM? Or, do you assign someone internally until work is won? Any help you can give is MUCH appreciated! Hannah

ITAR Guru Needed in Texas

I hate admitting defeat, but since I'm writing this on behalf of a co-worker and not myself that helps alot.

For the past several months one of our directors has been somewhat vocal about his need for a senior ITAR person. We have found several but, for a variety of reasons, no offers have been accepted. Our HR director has authorized the use of outside agencies so we will welcome referrals of candidates or very well targeted agencies.

PLEASE HELP - I'm getting tired of listening to him get beat up by this director.

Service Disabled Vet Iniatives

Hello All,

I am doing some personal research regarding the Service Disabled Veteran Small Business Initiatives (Public Laws 106-50 and 108-183).

Since implementation, there have been many reports on the positive results of these initiatives regarding Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB). However, I have also read feedback from the SDVOSB's themselves that it is still difficult to get contracts from the larger agencies and prime contractors.

Does anyone have any feedback on specific actions taken by their client government contractor regarding these initiatives? Is it a priority within our line of work (recruiting and placement services)?

I am a SDV myself and also welcome any opportunities for recruiting/placement services within the major aerospace and defense contractors. I would also be willing to share these opportunities with other SDVOSB's.

My email contact is: raul@excelsiorbiz.com, www.excelsiorbiz.com.

Thanks!
