BS engineering candidates vs BS engineering technology candidates follow this discussion

In recruiting and hiring, do you make a distinction between candidates with engineering and engineering technology BS degrees? What is the difference in the workplace? Do candidates go into different jobs or have a different career progression?

    Thank you for your feedback.

Rashica said it well.  An additional difference:  In the compensation group, we often had a higher target salary offer, not much, but noticeable, for the BS in Engineering, at both Engineering Companies.  The bias in both EPCMs was that the Engineers were more likely to make strategic decisions and should be compensated more for their career path.

Hi there-  Having recruited in the engineering space as a corporate recruiter I can say that we did consider there to be a distinction between the two.  Candidates with a BS in Engineering Technology tend to be more hands-on, technical while candidates with a traditional BS in Engineering were more about applying theory and principles.  With that being said it depends on the company, industry etc...as to their career progression for instance I preferred hiring BS Engineering Technology candidates for a company specializing in medical device manufacturing.

      Hope this helps...
