Go To Where The Jobs Are!

Do you recruit in any of these industries?

  • Financial Services
  • Engineering
  • Healthcare

Are you interested in opportunities in these sectors?  Did you know that RecruitAlliance currently has a large number of fee-paid job orders from clients that are ready, willing and prepared to hire the right candidate - NOW!

700+ Financial Services/Broker/Advisor positions

150+ Healthcare/Pharmaceutical positions

40+   Engineering/Aerospace positions

Times are tough; don't make it any harder than it has to be.  Why waste your time cold calling employers looking for opportunities with little results or sending what amounts to an email cold-call, simply to view a job order from an unknown company?  Then, if you're successful, give away up to 25% of your fee as required on some other sites?

Spend your time wisely and do what you do best - find qualified candidates for REAL job orders with clients who need your assistance... and remember, with RecruitAlliance you always keep 100% of your fee.

If RecruitAlliance is new to you or you're not sure how it works, then take advantage of our 30 day FREE trial!

Researching the competition - use the professionals? Ethical challenge?

I'm a consultant to two large firms in the areas of recruiting and compensation.  For senior and hard-to-fill positions, I've recommended research organizations to scout out the local competition.  The research organizations can quickly identify competitor employees in similarly-titled positions and provide contact information, often more quickly than the company recruiting group, and keep my client's name out of the search, avoiding retaliation.

Have listened to two challenges to my recommendation:

1. The research organization does what we already pay our staffing group to do.     My answer so far is that No, you pay your staffing group, including me as a consultant, to identify the best people available, and the research is going to beat the staffing people 9 times out of 10 because their approach is faster and more thorough than networking.

2. Using research organizations is unethical.  It's like we're hiding.  We don't reveal our name, the research company contacts people at work and I suspect hacks the web page of the competitor.   My answer is that the approach protects everyone involved and until the company does something I know is unethical (they don't reveal their methods - trade secrecy) I won't condemn them.

Thoughts?

BS engineering candidates vs BS engineering technology candidates

In recruiting and hiring, do you make a distinction between candidates with engineering and engineering technology BS degrees? What is the difference in the workplace? Do candidates go into different jobs or have a different career progression?

Thank you for your feedback.

Can anyone use a college recruiter?

Greetings team.  As an unemployed corporate recruiter, I'm seeking to join an AEC firm who's college recruiting efforts (and succession planning efforts) can use a boost or augmentation.  This is my forte and I stand ready to travel anywhere in the U.S. to complete this mission.  I am available immediately and am willing to do contract or perm.

Find the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) Group!!

Hello All,

With the new format it took me awhile to find my own group! In the hopes that this will pop up somewhere near the top, you can save if you want to follow along.

Also, we've continuously had more and more people join up. I've found this group to not be as 'interactive' as a few others, but I give credit to the fact that this is a specific industry niche and many of us are actually recruiting and not using ERE as our life source for business (as many others do). I will attempt at creating more posts - although work is busy right now - and I would encourage everyone here to feel free to post as well.

The commercial construction market has obviously gone through a great deal of change in the past months and I'm curious to know what others out there are finding? Whether you're at a GC, CM, Architecture, or Engineering Firm (and many other sub-categories), I hope you  can find the answers you're looking for that are specific to our industry here.

Thanks - Scott

APPLICANT TRACKING SOFTWARE

Hello All, I am transitioning from our old applicant tracking software and would appreciate some suggestions on what I might look into as our new software.

For background info, I was previously using Vurve which has recently been bought out by Taleo. I'm looking for something very basic, easy to use, and has the ability to post positions to our company website. Our firm is just under 300 people, so nothing too fancy and/or expensive.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated... thanks!

P.S. Please only recommend what you personally have used and liked. I know of the various softwares, just want something that you yourself can attest to.

What would you say?

How would you assess the availability of those with civil, electrical, chemical and mechanical engineering degrees against the upcoming need for workers in the roads, bridges, water, thermal installations and other related industries in this country? Interesting reading (related) on this subject here.

NEED 3RD PARTY ASSISTANCE

To all 3rd party recruiters within this network in Southern California:

We recently became a Prime Consultant on a very large public works program and I would like to connect with solid 3rd party CONSTRUCTION / AEC industry recruiters/firms. This is the first time I've been the one to reach out. I have a background in 3rd party recruiting so I understand fee structures... I will be fair with you if you are fair with us.

Here's what I'd like to do: Meet with 3-4 firms/recruiters in our LA office and select 1-2 that I feel could make a large impact. If you have interest, please send me an email at sweaver@cgroupusa.com. I don't need a big sales pitch, just a simple statement of interest and qualifications. Please, no phone calls.

I look forward to hearing from you, thanks. -- Scott

Fee% charge placing US Expats on construction jobs in UAE

I need advice on what standard fee percentage ranges might be for placing US construction and real estate executives for a company based in the UAE. This is expat pay, so my understanding is a base, bonus, included housing & utilities, transportation, insurance, schooling fees, mobilization flights, holidays.

An executive I know is returning to the UAE wanting to engage my services for their staffing. I've never placed executives in the UAE and have no knowledge as to fee structure for my services, or what I should be asking for.

Any advice and help is greatly appreciated, as a conference call to the UAE is scheduled next week.

Thanks again, Maureen

Social Media - Web 2.0

Web 2.0 - Social Networking, Blogs, Twitter etc.

I was reading an article 5 Must-Use Social Media Tools For HR & Recruiting Professionals In 2009 and wanted to see if what this group thought about the list. What has worked for you? What are you using now? What are you going to try to develop further in 2009?

Here is the list from the article. Link for full article http://www.fistfuloftalent.com/2008/12/5-mustuse-social-media-tools-for-hr-recruiting-professionals-in-2009.html If something that you do is not on this list please feel free to add to it.

1. Go where the peeps like you hang out on the web. 2. Learn how to use (really use) LinkedIn. 3. Read more Blogs by becoming an RSS 4. Twitter 5. Figure out how to use Facebook for recruiting.

There is a lot of talent in this group and I am very interested in hearing what people are using and what is working.

Thanks Ryan

An Uptick In Positions Available?

Good morning everyone, and Happy Holidays!

During the month of December our website has begun to see a little uptick in the number of job postings. With the new administration having one foot in the White House already, there is a lot of talk about job creation specifically as a result of the influx of spending that is likely to occur on our US Infrastructure. The type of funding that is being kicked around will lead to more more jobs in planning, engineering and construction for years to come. Is your firm in a hiring mode yet in preparation of the new administration, or are you still holding tight or even laying off?

I look forward to hearing from you. Have a safe & joyous Holiday Season!

Best,

Matt
