Sourcing Software ... what's the best ie. egrabber, talenthook, diver etc? follow this discussion

    started 4 months ago by

I just posted this on recruiting blogs as well so sorry if you've already seen this but my discussion is: I'm trying to decide on the best sourcing software and have over the past few months done demo's on egrabber, talenthook, broadlook diver and was hoping to get users perspective on pro's and con's. Admittingly the diver tool requires a lot of experience with search strings, cheat sheets and other hands on tools which I don't have so it maybe too much work for me to learn. I do have monster/careerbuilder access so to be able to use one of the tools like talenthook does have its pro's but not sure how good of a tool it is to source the net and social sites. Just wondering if I am missing another software tool and what others would consider to be the best application? Thanks for the help.

      Jason,

      Great question.

I use both Diver and eGrabber tools such as ResumeFinder. (I strongly recommend getting Broadlook's Contact Capture tool that is free and is helpful.)

I would agree with you that Diver requires one to have advanced Boolean search skills. eGrabber has a combination of ResumeFinder and resumeGrabber that is more friendly towards intermediate level users (each product can be used individually too). Both companies have components that parse LinkedIn profiles into an Excel table. For total beginners a product to explore would be getAutosearch.com; no Boolean knowledge is required.

I usually feel skeptical about tools that search multiple sites such as Metasearch engines,  because (unfortunately) all engines and sites have slight differences in syntax which may limit and/or confuse a metasearch engine user.

It also helps to understand that most sourcing tools do require that one understands how to search. What they bring to the table is advanced ways to parse and sort the information you find. These make your sourcing 10-20 times more productive. The more you learn about searching on the web and on job boards the better these tools will serve you.

I invite you to also post on the

Boolean Strings Network. We have many users of these tools who should be able to comment and perhaps add more tools to your list.

Jason - this is the same reply I posted on recruitingblogs. Not sure which one you check.

      Hi Jason

We at eGrabber make tools that are easy to use out of the box.
They also allow expert users to add their own scripts and customize the products for their needs.

Our product development goal is "Make it Easy to Use. Easy to Teach"
We cater for the masses. Which means our prices are always going to be very competitive.
We have also been in business for 12+ years.

I feel our ResumeFinder/ResumeGrabber combination is the best sourcing tool combination that exists for a recruiter. It packs a lot of punch at a small value.

Send me an email if you have any other questions.
