Twitter, hotdogs, information flood, LinkedIn group, and a webinar follow this discussion

While many people still shrug their shoulders and say they do not want to know what kinds on hotdogs and ketchup others eat, there's no doubt that Twitter has started playing a major role in marketing, selling, recruiting, and striking business deals. Specific challenges around twitter include wrapping one's mind around the set of Twitter-related applications that changes at a faster speed than we have seen with any Social Network. However, I do not believe that to benefit from Twitter you need to chase all the 100's of applications and stay on top of the latest. Just a few simple common-sense approaches would bring you business, clients and candidates TODAY.

Another challenge if you are on twitter is to sort though tons of information coming your way from those whom you follow. However, we've learned to filter out interesting things using RSS readers, searches on search engines etc, and we should be able to choose what we read wisely here too. As an example, one can always create a separate "reading" twitter ID and follow only a few wise people they want.

"Early adopters" and people with creative minds will benefit from twitter greatly, I think.

We have a fast growing group on LinkedIn Twitter for Sourcing and Recruiting at http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=1908171; please feel free to join and share your thoughts. As of this morning, the group has 1,970 members (that is in less than one month since we created it).

I also do webinars on twitter recruiting/sourcing/sales leads techniques; the next one is on May 20th. https://www2.gotomeeting.com/register/476801162
