One of my projects for 2009 is to overhaul our careers web site within our corporate web site. I am not sure if we have anyone in house that can help with this, so I am looking for suggestions of companies that are involved with revamping or creating of Careers web sites - any ideas? We would be looking for help with design, layout, SEO, talent hubs and our online application. Look forward to some suggestions!

Hi Daniella,
your project is one that we work with every day. while many companies offer some sort of turn key solution, the careersite is about telling the story in a compelling manner and that has to be done through discovery and understanding your goals, strengths, weaknesses and stories. we actually work with and employ many of the services listed below like a standoutjobs ourselves when it makes sense for a client. that is the technical piece. the copy, content, design and information architecture is what will get you the right talent. our interactive group has a deep knowledge of building best practices careersites. many times, there isn't budget or initiative to build one with all the bells and whistles. when that is the case, we work with what we have and the budget that is available. we'd be happy to discuss all of the aspects of the careersite at your convenience.
Best,

Thank you for contacting me
At this time we are gathering resources and names in order to determine where we go from here on this project
I will keep you posted on next steps if appropriate regarding discussing your services

Hi Daniella,
Take a look at Standoutjobs.com. They have a very good product that is easy to roll out. I think it's fully customizable and they take care of SEO. They can also incorporate your existing job postings into their system.
I've sat through one of their demos, and from what I can see, the product is easy to roll out and budget friendly.
best,
Roberto

Thank you for all the great suggestions
Yes, video is on the list of things we would like to do
I also learned that CareerBuilder has a service through CB Media...we use CareerBuilder as a job board, so we're checking out this option too.

You should consider Jobs2Web. They've done some great things for Best Buy, Microsoft, and Lifetime Fitness.

Daniella, I suggest talking to the interactive department at one of the recruitment marketing agencies, like JWT, NAS, etc... If you want specific contacts at those or other organizations let me know.
I'm sure you are thinking of using video too, check out the Video 2.0 for Recruitment blog for ideas.
Here's some different samples:

First Daniella you have your work cut out for you, here at American Eagle Airlines we recently redesigned our career website and added recruitment videos. While I cannot take any credit for working on this project, my colleague who headed this project put in many hours and hard work and it has paid off. We used NAS to help us with our site and MadDash created our videos. I invite you to take a look.
Ernest, I would love to hear any feedback you have on our site and videos, I have recently been through several of your articles on ERE Community and have shared them with my colleagues; our next big project is to get on board with Web 2.0/Social Media; small steps.

Hello and thank you for your reply
We would be looking for more than just a one-time event
and we use a home grown ATS system

Hi Daniella,
If this is just a one-time thing, I would suggest looking at Elance (http://www.elance.com/), where there are plenty of web designers ready and raring to help you out.
Also, if you currently work with 3rd party HR software for your career portal, you can often ask their team to design something for you. I know here at CATS Software we're glad to custom-design career pages for our clients.
Hope that helps!

Well let me jump on the bandwagon and say that I agree with Ernest....you should talk to a Recruitment Advertising agency about what they can do (and have done) for like-minded clients. Success Communications Group has an interactive division (SL3) that has implemented many career microsites and the like for national and local companies who are stepping up their Careers websites (and at some really great rates I might add). We also work with MadDash media for our web videos so I highly recommend looking into their services as well. Ideally this is also the time to incorporate a social networking strategy as it relates to recruitment....we would love to out together a proposal for you. Feel free to contact me if you'd like some additional information or visit us at www.successcomgroup.com.

Hi Daniella,
Per my voicemessage to you just a moment ago, Bayard Advertising has worked with many clients to bring the careers section of their corporate web site up to today's standards and best practices. In fact, in some instances, our work has been so well received, we have gone on to revamp our client's entire corporate site. Bayard specializes in not only developing a candidate-friendly experience that will motivate that individual to take action, but we also develop innovative strategies to target those candidates and deliver them to your careers site in order to get you the best ROI possible. I'd be happy to share some samples of our work. Please feel free to contact me at kim_h@bayardad.com.

Daniella, as part of our ongiong efforts here at NAS we continuallywork with organizations to help them identify what their exact needs are with respect to their career sites. It is more than just a site with links to job postings but more of a way to communicate your brand attributes and don't let anyone tell you your brand isn't important. Our work has helped many organizations rebuild their career site whether working with their internal resources or taking on the entire project, we can help. And by the way, show great return on that investment . I am happy to share these sites as part of our portfolio of what we have done to help transform an ordinary career site into a better candidate experience with improved results:
