The basic piece that HR/Recuiter types should take from the "dev life" of saleforce.com, is that if you want out of the life of "spreadsheet management" in your department...I have not seen an excel spreadsheet yet that can't be turned into a web based, collabortive/shared application within Salesforce that can be used in numerous ways that a spreadsheet never could.
Don't believe me? I dare you...challenge me.
You will never, truely move your team forward if you use spreadsheets to manage them.
