Meetup Description

Come "Jobnob" with cool new startups and other job seekers at this informal networking happy hour where unemployed people who want to keep their skills sharp (and get a free drink) are matched up with startups who could use their help.

Bummed Out Job Seekers-- are you willing to work at least 5 hours a week for free or minimal pay? Help out a startup and you'll get a leg up on the competition, keep your skills sharp and have some good experience to put on your resume. And when the giant gears of the economy start churning again, you could well be one of the first ones back on the payroll.

Cash Strapped Startups-- are you willing to buy a smart, talented, unemployed person a drink? Come with one or two specific projects that you need accomplished and we'll help you find the perfect person to get the job done. And if you get funded you can always hire them!

    Kudos to Jobnob and Julie Greenberg - for throwing a WONDERFUL networking event last night... at The District (down on Townsend - near the ballpark!)

    The District (name of the club) was a great place - and was VERY surprised by the turn-out... (was more surprised by the television cameras... - I never signed any release!  LOL!)

    I was amazed that there seemed like a time - that there was a line to get in the joint... and was AMAZED at seeing name tags with skill sets that include bio-tech, senior level accounting, plenty of qualified sales, marketing and public relations people.  It was a diversity recruiting fest - and I spent a good few minutes, calling fellow recruiting associates and hiring managers I know - telling them they had to get down to the Jobnob event (honest - in a crowd bar - I REALLY had to make sure to pronounce - "J-O-B--N-O-B".)

    LiquidConnections is hosting event next Wednesday; WorkYourCareer.com has one on Thursday and I'm participating in a wonderful webinar and event MTM Consulting is hosting at the W-Hotel on Wednesday, May 20th.  I'll post details about these events as well.

    If you are currently entertaining career opportunities - or if you are currently hiring - you REALLY need to attend one of these events - and see for yourself.

    Hope some folks out there - find this information of interest and help share some information as well (isn't that what this social networking stuff is suppose to be all about anyway ??)
