Where Are You Blogging? follow this blog post

I've blogged on Blogger and Yahoo over the years.  I was somewhat happy with Blogger but didn't like the layout limitations.  (generic)

I'm now blogging on Wordpress but only recently realized you can't add your own plug-ins.  At least I haven't figured out how to do it.

I almost think WordPress is "too" high tech for the average blogger, but I'll keep at it!

That being said, I'm keep looking for a Wordpress App on my iPhone.  Like everything else, maybe WordPress will be easier/faster from there.

So... "where are you blogging?" Do you rely on ERE's site?

Is anyone using Wordpress for blogging?

If so, what do you think of it?

Terry, check out this post by Remarkablogger:

He does an excellent run down of why you should be moving to wordpress.org. I did and never regretted it-

Hi Terry Hall, I'm Terry Hall also ;-)

I know your frustration with blogs and blogging platforms. In fact, I got so frustrated and annoyed with wordpress.com and blogger.com that I went on a rampage 2 years ago to find out the best way to blog... (I didn't want to pay wordpress.com for their advanced set of features that they chose for me.) Keep in mind that Wordpress.com is a business whose model is to give you a good set of features then have you upgrade (pay money) to get more.

I've settled on Wordpress as my preferred platform. But, it's wordpress.org and their self hosted blogging software that I use and recommend. Wordpress.org is open source code offered at no charge under a GPL license. This solution provides complete control with every aspect of you site (there is a learning curve). Reliable hosting accounts are $5 to $10 per month. A new person setting up a Wordpress can get started and have a nice website/blog in about a day. You will need a domain name which costs about $8 to $12 per year.

There are other blogging networks that operate similar to wordpress.com. I started one at www.bizOmundo.com specifcially for business bloggers. In addition, I'm one of the 1,000s of WordPress Consultants available to assist businesses and individuals with getting their sites working quickly.

The main reason I feel that an individual needs a self hosted website using worodpress or other CMS platform is for personal branding and communications hub. You can link your website to your Linked In Profile, twitter, & facebook.)

I tend to agree with your assessment that wordpress.com and wordpress.org can be too "high tech" when your starting out. There are so many wonderful tools, toys and gadgets to play with that there never seems to be enough time. The fact is that my personal sites and projects are woefully neglected with my client and consulting work.

Feel free to contact me through my website at www.wp4b.com - I have some wordpress.org training videos installed, you will need a password to watch them.

    Cheers & Happy Blogging,
