Corporate recruitment: what works and what doesn't plus other musings.

Up-tick in the Employment Market Due Soon follow this blog post

One of the most reliable indicators I've found for the employment market is job postings for recruiters. It stands to reason that if companies are hiring recruiters they are planning to add to their staff. I post corporate recruiter positions in the Jobs for Recruiters forum on RecruiterSpace San Diego. Here's the data from the past few months:

Month, Number of corporate recruiter posts

June (to date),   3
May,     9
April,     8
March,     1
February,    4
January,    3

Most of the posts are either education or medical related but I suspect that we're about to see a significant change in the market as a whole.

I don't pay any attention to recruitment agency posts but they would be an excellent indicator too.

I think the real issue is quality. Real wages are down, so I'll be happy when there is an uptick in our earnings.

At the top of the market we'll have a shortage of recruiters and wages will be high. Right now we've got a shortage of jobs and wages are low. I believe that we're starting to see more jobs. It will take longer for wages to go up.

I've noticed something similar here on jobs.ere.net too.

I have not been sure if its an economic thing or because we dropped the price, so I've been keeping my fingers crossed!

Probably both. You may want to consider keeping your prices low even when things pick up. What would it be like if every open recruiter position was posted on jobs.ere.net?
