Recruiter's Day Out

Everything about recruiting,under the sun.

Straight from the gut. follow this blog post

I have always believed in one thing; first impression should never be a judgement call. Especially in the corporate world, if you go on the first impression of a person, you are not doing something that is justified.

More often than not, first impression is our primal instinct. It comes "straight from the gut" and hammers your thinking ability. And who is to justify whether the person making a snap judgement is right or wrong? If you catch me at the wrong time, I am not going to be all pally with you. Does it mean, that I am bad person in totality? No.

The same thing happens when recruiters have personal biases about the candidates they are talking to. If they dont like the way candidate presents himself, they will reject him. So rational thinking is pre-empted by something non-sensical. How many times you have made a hire where you have regretted? Was your instinct right at that time?

Its imperative that you club logic with instinct. And both should be in moderation. Weightage should be given about 80% to logic and 20% to instinct. Data always tells a story. Try and read it. Think and then listen to your heart.
