As a prior-enlisted, Naval Academy graduate, candidate at military fairs and placement teams, hiring manager, agency recruiter, and now a military staffing manager at Sears Holdings, I wanted to see a blog that tied it all together; a one-stop shop for MILITARY TALENT. This blog is to share "mentoring" and "networking" between candidates, recruiters, and clients. The battle for top military talent is getting more challenging due to lower percentages of recruits entering the armed forces, and steps taken to keep folks in ($). Let's share our best practices and lessons learned.

In the spirit of this week�??s football game, let me start by saying Go Navy, Beat Army!

Now for the really fun stuff!  If you missed the two hour special, hosted by Howie Long, and then the Michael Strahan pregame show last week, then set your DVR�??s for this one:

This Sunday, December 7, 2008 at 7pm CT, there will be a TY PENNINGTON: BEHIND THE SCENES show on ABC.

At the end of the special, Ty pays it forward to a group of military families by delivering them special gifts and some holiday cheer. We�??ll also have a personal appeal by Ty to encourage people to donate to the Heroes at Home Wish Registry.

The bigger story of how DoD, Sears Holdings, and other teams can all work together to help 30,583 military families is a holiday story that is hard to get out there with all of the other good stuff, but it could be one of my favorites�?�that, and the Cowboys winning the Superbowl perhaps.  Help spread the word!
