Teacher Wins against Bully Boss! Oh Happy Day.
August 21, 2009 by dorightatwork
Teacher who has been harassed, and tormented for a year wins lawsuit against her tormentor, bully boss principal. This was an excellent teacher who worked with special needs children. One would think that such a teacher, exemplary in her standards, qualifications, and teaching of her students, would be valued by her administrators. But, no, research into this phenomenon in the fields of education and nursing, show otherwise.
Nursing and Education appear to be two of the worse fields to enter if you are adverse to being bullied by your boss routinely. This appears to be true not only in the United States but in countries such as Brazil, UK, Canada, Slovenia, Germany, and many others.
Following the conversations on SM sites I have noticed several common themes across cultures globally on the topic of bully bosses in the workplace: The worker is excellent or more than competent, the boss is almost a stalker or terrorist in behavior, HR always stands behind the bully boss.
Internal investigations into workers complaints against the bully boss are nearly always futile as the investigators are friends, co-workers of the bully boss. Lawsuits are rarely won in any cases against the bully boss especially when it is a educational organization. Unless the lawsuit happens to be a worker's compensation claim where the worker has incurred real injuries that are declared work related by the qualified doctor. Then and only then may the worker experience some success and compensation for their harassment and torment.
