Some have said, "Targets of workplace bully bosses are victims who should: leave, shut up and sit down, tell the bully to leave them alone."
These types of responses are from those who have never felt the impact of being bullied by their boss. It is a topic that one should not speak on if not initiated into the world of being bullied by a boss.
Organization HR and leadership should recognize the damages these bully bosses do and how much they cost (Veincentotzs, 2009) to the organization and to those they target.
The costs of retention loss, including hiring and training new talent, Worker's compensation costs, insurance increases, low productivity, and the costs related to low morale among those who witness bullying as well as the target who experiences it.
I am amazed at the organizational cultures which tolerate, encourage, or just ignore the bully boss behavior. As targets flood stress related therapy offices at the coercion of their HMOs, the real culprit, who needs to be in therapy sits at the office, gloating over their crime.
Crime, did I say crime? Intentional infliction of harm to another from one who is in power and authority is a criminal offense. Whether it is physically attacking the body or psychologically attacking an individual, it is still harm that is done.
