    Shally,

Thank you for posting this problem. It is one that we continue to struggle with. These are all great ideas and I would like to add a few more points First understand the problem before you can sell it. Recruitment?s biggest challenge is that it is front end loaded. All of the costs are up front with the promise of delivery. Truly understanding this and educating appropriately will help in the funding of the strategies. How To Get Funding ? this is a very critical step. The sourcing strategy should also maintain a strong branding component. The advertising campaign regardless of print or internet must target the talent as well as reflect and brand the company appropriately. This is unique to each company and a blanket sourcing approach should be revised and customized to reflect both the career opportunity as well as the organization. One of the biggest challenges is that not many hiring managers truly understand what a sourcing strategy really is and what it can accomplish. I have always found it helpful to also educate hiring managers on the reality of the external market as it pertains to the position. You should provide this on a national and local scale. There are quite a few resources on line that can provide helpful demographic info. The DOL is a great resource. Ensuring Sourcing Sustainability - This becomes very evident and sells itself after the first few strong quality hires at a low cost. Again it is educating the hiring managers that the internal recruitment function has the same resources available to them as the placement agencies they want to use. Explaining that you basically have the same resources at our disposal is critical. What makes a good sourcer? Understanding that these lists are not comprehensive, I would also add that a great sourcer from an internet research perspective is one who has some recruitment experience. But more importantly also knows Boolean language, as well as the ability to read a job description and create a Boolean search string. As crazy as it may sound you ideally would want someone who has grown up on the internet and has mastered the use and research capabilities of search engines. The best match is finding a sourcer that has strong experience in a specific industry and is familiar with the resources available in that industry. Be sure to also include search engine optimization within any recruiting strategy. Thanks for the opportunity to respond to this topic.
